Being a 54-year-old male and loving dog owner living in Vancouver BC has given me a new perspective on a lot of issues and causes which, if not for living on the West Coast of Canada I do not think I would have. First and foremost I have come to appreciate the esthetic of my surroundings as they relate to my life and our Golden Retriever. I would not consider myself to be an environmentalist, but I do care about the environment.
How that translates to my experience with my dog is the next question.
We are very fortunate to live very close to a dog-friendly beach in which we take our golden retriever to regularly. When we take our Golden to the beach, the first thing she does is run out on to the sandbars and find a nice tidal pool and proceed to make a poop. I know that people will say that you should not allow your dog to take a poop in a tidal pool, but those that say that do not understand what owning a dog is like. When they have to poop, they have to poop.
Once our Golden Retriever takes a poop the job has always fallen on me to attempt to pick up the dog poop with my trusty plastic poop bag. Without getting into the detail of this “not too pleasant” challenge, suffice it to say the dog poop is floating around, and it takes a magician with the “one-handed” grab to pick up the dog poop. You never really get all of the dog poop and the dog poop you get is pretty wet in the bag and very disgusting.

I am not an environmentalist, and I admit I am not a scientific person, but these bags are paper.
